Rash of sign-up sessions slated

Several options are available to keep athletes young and old occupied this winter, with registration dates for those activities upcoming.
Firstly, the Club 55+ bowling program will hold registration at Plaza Lanes tomorrow (Aug. 26) from 1-3 p.m. while youth bowling registration is slated for Wednesday, Sept. 1 and Thursday, Sept. 2 from 6-8 p.m.
As well, to drum up interest in the sport, Plaza Lanes will offer free bowling from 3-9 p.m. on Aug. 30-Sept. 2 in conjunction with National Bowling Week.
Meanwhile, the Fort Frances Badminton Club will be holding its registration on Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Sports Centre.
Those registering must bring their OHIP number.
Youth and adult badminton sessions are held at Robert Moore School on Monday and Wednesday nights while recreational badminton is held Friday nights at Fort High.

Both local swim clubs also have registration sessions in the works.
The Fort Frances Aquanauts will hold theirs on Thursday, Sept. 2 from 5-7 p.m. at the Memorial Sports Centre.
New swimmers are required to bring along a copy of their birth certificate.

As well, the Cyclone Swim Club will hold registration Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 5-8 p.m. at the Memorial Sports Centre.
New swimmers are required to bring along both their birth certificates and health cards.

A little further down the road, the Emo-Devlin-Barwick Minor Hockey Association will hold its registration on Wednesday, Sept. 15 and Thursday, Sept. 16 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Emo-La Vallee Arena.
First-time registrants must bring along their birth certificate.
