Hallett Run aground

The 82-year old tug boat, a feature at the Sorting Gap Marina since 2009, has been taken out of the water to keep it from drifting away. According to Fort Frances Museum curator Kayleigh Speirs, “Attempts had been made to weigh the Hallett down using concrete blocks, however, due to the unprecedented high water levels, the tug had shifted in its cradle and needed to be safely removed.” How long the boat sits in dry dock has yet to be determined. The Town and Museum will be working together to see what work needs to be done on the boat before it goes back to its permanent home on the waterfront. -Allan Bradbury photo
