The Hunter family is profoundly saddened to announce the passing of our mom, sister, niece, and friend and her final journey into the spirit-world after a brief illness. She passed away at hospital in Sudbury, Ontario, on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
Leah was born on June 30, 1982, to Eleanor Faye Hunter in Fort Frances, Ontario. She was raised in Manitou Rapids with lots of family and cousins around her. She was especially close to her grandpa and grandma Hunter and spent many weekends growing up travelling to powwows far and wide with grandpa and grandma, her mom and her family. Leah was raised around all her many cousins whom are also like siblings to one another. Growing up was lots of fun and life was filled with times spent with family. We will deeply miss her. She was funny, had a great sense of humour and there was always lots of silly laughter with her around.
Leah was predeceased on the Hunter side by her grandpa and grandma Albert Hunter Sr. and Bella Hunter; her mother Faye Hunter; her sister Crystal Henderson; her father Calvin Bombay Jr.; her auntie Lucy; and her uncle Abe. On the Manchester side, she was predeceased by her mother-in-law’s husband Randy Dumoulin of Timmins, Ontario.
She is survived by Chris Henderson and family of Mitanjigaming First Nation and her siblings, Tyler Hunter of Manitou Rapids and River Henderson of Mitanjigaming First Nation. She is also survived by Trevor Manchester and their children Tyler Jayde, Khloe Cree, Gabrielle Paisley Faye, and Lincoln Trey; mother-in-law Sophia Dumoulin, and family Margaret Linklater-Charette, Jason Linklater, Christopher Manchester, Terry Manchester, Tracey Manchester, and Jody Corbiere. She will be greatly missed by her uncles and aunties Al, Joe, Art, Bob, Gloria, Lorraine, Doreen, Irene, Sarah, Tammy, Sandra; and her many cousins and large extended family.
Visitation and services will be restricted to immediate and extended family, pallbearers and by invitation only due to COVID prevalence.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 24, 2022, from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ontario. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January, 25, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. also at Northridge. Leah will be laid to rest next to her grandpa and grandma Hunter in Manitou Rapids. Elder Gilbert Smith will conduct traditional Anishinaabeg funeral rites.
