Behind the Helmet

This week we sat down with Wissota Midwest Modified driver #59x James ‘Cheebs’ Lambert

What is your favourite race track food? I don’t usually eat at the track, but if I do it’s going to be a taco in a bag and one of Corey’s Cinnamon Buns.

When did you start racing? I started racing in 2016

Why did you start racing? Emo Speedway has been the Lambert family home track starting with my dad Bucky #60, and my late brother Chuck #60x. I’ve been part of some great pit crews growing up and it’s been so fun getting behind the wheel. I have awesome family support, sometimes I can almost hear my wife and daughter cheering the loudest from the stands.

What advice would you give to someone who would like to start racing? My advice to someone that is interested in starting racing would be to come to have fun, learn from every lap you take, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The senior drivers are happy to pass down their knowledge.

What is your favourite part about racing? The best thing about racing is the people you meet. I’ve made friends that feel like extended family at tracks all over.
