The Salvation Army, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Fort Frances, are celebrating SPRING BREAK and providing FREE Activity/Nutrition Bags for kids (Ages 5 & up).  We will be giving away 75 bags stuffed with crafts, snacks, and lunch items on Friday, April 9th from 11:30 am to 1pm at 351 Scott Street.  (Some nutritional items will require heating up.)  No registration will be taken – first come first served. 

The Income Tax Clinic has returned to the Volunteer Bureau. The clinic is open Mondays noon-4 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Volunteer Bureau. Have your documents ready. Maximum income to qualify for the clinic is $25,000 for single people, or $35,000 for combined households. The Volunteer Bureau is located in the old train station on Fourth Street West.

SnOasis is back! It’s online and outside to comply with COVID regulations, but organizers have plenty of fun family events, including photo mosaics and colouring contests. To see all the events happening throughout the month of March, visit the Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Centre on Facebook.

The Family Centre is holding a children’s clothing give-away, until supplies last. Open to everyone. If you have any items to donate, drop them at the Family Centre during the day, in the old train station.

The Fort Frances Senior Centre is looking for seniors who would like to chat, through Zoom virtual meetings. Reconnect with others and chat about topics of interest from the safety of your own home! The Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship is making tentative plans to return to a modified version of the tournament this summer and is looking to gauge interest from teams. The Fort Frances Museum is hosting spring workshops! Registration in underway. To sign up, call 274-7891 Monday to Friday, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. All classes will take place on Saturdays over Zoom. Available events are:

Spring Wreath Making with Jenny Coats, March 27 from 1-4 p.m. Cost is $40.

Acrylic Painting with Cher Pruys, April 10, from 1-4 p.m. Cost is $65.

Card Making with Meredith Crosswell, May 8 from 1-8 p.m. Cost is $25.

The Fort Frances EarlyON Child and Family Centre has been posting fun craft and activity ideas on their Facebook page, that families can do at home. Volunteer opportunities

Best for Kitty, previously known as Paws and Claws Canada is in desperate need of foster homes. They are currently unable to take in all the cats and kittens in need of care, due to a foster home shortage. For more information on what’s involved, or to volunteer, e-mail bestforkitty@gmail.com.

Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteer drivers. Meals are delivered over the lunch hour. The program welcomes individuals, teams or organizations. To find out more, call Gaby Hanzuk at 807-274-3764.
