It is with profound sadness that the family of Vinton Mathieu DeGagne announces his passing on Tuesday January 5, 2021 at LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, at the age of 82.
Vinton was the third child in a family of 12 children born to Ulysses and Emelia DeGagne, being the first born in the district after the Dance fire. Vinton was united in marriage to Arlene Jewell January 24, 1959 in Fort Frances, where they raised their three sons. He was a dedicated worker, working at various jobs, using his well known talent of welding with his last being him operating his own business V&R Welding. He had an unending love for his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed time at the cabin, fishing and hunting.
Vinton is survived by his wife Arlene; sons Murray (Rhonda) granddaughter-in-law Lauren with great-grandson Bryson, Kevin (Deborah) granddaughter Chelsea with great grandson Jack, grandson Lucas, granddaughter Alyssa (Mukil), Dwayne (Tracy) granddaughters Hannah & Haleigh, Ed (Allison) Vold grandchildren Cody, Nolan (Paige) & Lauren. Brothers, Sisters and In-Laws Paul (Jan), Ed (Karen), Louise (Roy) Cull, Millie (Bob) Bishop, Marcel (Valdean), Doris, Janis DeGagne Nelson (Jack), Betty, Bonnie (Elton) Sutherland, Grace Angus, Raymond (Linda) Jewell; along with numerous nephews and nieces. Vinton was predeceased by his parents Ulysses and Emelia; mother-in-law Blanche Jewell / Vold; father-in-law Wellington Jewell / Johnny Vold; brothers and sisters Aurise (Armand) Manaigre, Roger, Ray (Sue), Jake, Leo, Yvonne (Richard) Smelt, Grandson Justin; in-laws Jean Steele, Ralph (Coreen) Jewell, Russell Angus.
Vinton has been cremated as per his wishes, with no service.
