It is with great sadness the family of Gerald Wayne Lauzon announce his peaceful passing on July 12, 2020 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
Gerald was born on March 11, 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was the only child of Myrtle Lauzon (Skaalrud). He attended school in the township of Nelles on Lauzon Road. After school he helped on the farm, and with the honey bees. Then he was hired on the B&B Gang on the CNR and after many positions, retired from the CNR as a locomotive engineer in 1990.
Gerald, with his wife Jean, spent many years at their home together in Pinewood gardening, feeding the deer, running his saw mill, and enjoying their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gerald loved to play the guitar and banjo, and collected an array of pictures and videos of family and friends. He enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler all over the bush trails hauling all his children, and then grandchildren. Gerald was always willing to help anyone that was in need of a helping hand.
Gerald is survived by his wife Jean of 59 years; his son Kenneth (Mona); his daughter Sandra; son Lester (Kim); son James (Valerie); and daughter Cindy (Cory); grandchildren Steven, Stacy, Michael, Kayla, Karissa, Teagan, Seth, Rylea, Derek, Bethany; twelve great-grandchildren; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents Myrtle and Emile Lauzon; brothers-in-law Leland Forsyth, Ed Schaaf, Frank Schaaf, Gerald Saxberg, Russell Cates, Alex Swanson; & sister-in-law Marg Jorgenson.
A private family service was held at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., cremation has taken place and interment to follow at a later date.
