Sandra Marie Calder (Bar), 51, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at home, with her family by her side, after a three-year struggle with cancer.
She was very stubborn and fought a long, hard battle.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Dennis; daughter, Melissa (Stephanie); son, Nathan; and much-loved grandsons, Nodin and Carter.
On the Adams side, she is survived by her brothers, Rick (Debbie), Cubby (Heike), and Al (Corrinne); and sisters-in-law, Jan and Peggy. On the Calder side, she leaves behind Mom and Dad (Dixie and Doug), Al Dog (Ceceilia), Ed (Connie), Brenda (David), Sam, Barb, and Lorraine.
She also is survived by numerous cherished nieces and nephews; as well as her special pet, “Diesel.”
Sandy was predeceased by her parents, Percy and Ethel; brothers, Terry, and baby brother, Brian; sister, Karen; and niece, Aimee.
Sandy loved to spend time at the cabin-cutting the grass on the hill always was her mission to get whipped down. She also loved spending time chasing after her grandsons and was looking forward to meeting her new grand-baby due in November.
She spent many hours being a hockey mom and treasured watching her kids play. She loved the sliding hill, and we remember her trying to go up the big hill on the lake on the snowmachine and tumbling back just before getting to the top.
Stacking and hauling firewood was her joy-crazy as that sounds. Bingo was where you could find her most nights. And she loved her coffee!
She was athletic, having played hockey, baseball, and curling. Baseball was her sport-she was a great player.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Couchiching multi-use facility.
