It is with heavy hearts that the family of Everett Freeman announces his peaceful passing, with family by his side, on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born June 27, 1950 in Fort Frances to Allan and Edna Freeman. He lived here all his life, working at La Verendrye General Hospital as an accountant and then with Tribal Health.
Everett was outgoing, cheerful, and always making new friends. He loved spending time with his family and doing everything with them, hockey games, dance recitals, and school events, but especially time spent at the cabin.
He was a member of the Lions Club and the Lutheran Concerned.
Everett loved music, playing the guitar, violin, and singing; he was an active member of the Choraliers, Knox United Church Choir, and Zion Lutheran Church Choir.
He also was involved in local hockey, spending many games in the penalty box as scorekeeper for the Lakers and Muskies.
Everett leaves behind his brothers, Allen (Kathy) Freeman of Brampton, Ont. and Lanny (Susan) Freeman of Fort Frances, Ont.; nieces, Sarah (Chris) Kivimaki of Fort Frances, Ont. and Beth (Dan) Wrolstad of Dryden, Ont.; nephew, Mark (Erin) Freeman of London, Ont.; great-nephews, Scott, Ben, and Will; great-nieces, Julia, Anne, and Megan; as well as many wonderful friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Edna; brother, Michael Freeman; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Freeman.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held.
The honourary pallbearers will be the Fort Frances Lakers.
