Oliver Joseph Nault, of Rainy River, Ont., passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016.
Oliver was born in Rainy River on May 18, 1949 to Ulysse and Lucienne Nault (nee Cayer). He was a lifelong resident of Rainy River.
Oliver began working for the CN Railroad in June of 1972, where he continued to work until his health made that no longer possible in 2002.
Oliver was a hard-working man who also spent many years farming both independently as well as for Northend Farms. He had a great love of the outdoors and was happiest when he could go hunting, snowmobiling, gardening, or farming.
He came from a large family, and always enjoyed family gatherings and holidays. Oliver had a generous heart and made friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his siblings, Ida (Ed) Maryniuk, Aurel (June) Nault, Michael Nault, and Linda (Gary) Foster; special niece, Beatrice Nault and her children, Mandy Nault (Jeremy Mann) and Taylor Johnston; great-great nieces, Tylyn Nault (Jonathon McDonald) and Jenica Wendler; great-great nephews, Jase Wendler and Hudson Mann; as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Oliver was predeceased by his parents, Ulysse and Lucienne; sisters, Irene Neddo and Denise Friesen; brothers, Noel, Denis, and Roger; and sister-in-law, Vicky Nault.
A funeral mass was held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Rainy River.
Interment to take place at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers were Richard (Dickie) Byrnes, Bob Storkson, Ab Desrosier, Vaughn Murray, Ralph Armstrong, Gary Tetu, and Rene Nordberg, and all of Oliver’s nieces and nephews.
