FLOYD THOMAS BRASKI

Floyd Thomas Braski, 85, of Balkan Township, Mn., passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2016 at the Virginia Hospital in Virginia, Mn.
He was born Oct. 4, 1930 in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of Richard and Bertha (Haveri) Braski.
Floyd was a lifelong sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as spending time outdoors and at his cabin that he built near Nestor Falls, Ont. on Crow (Kakagi) Lake.
He loved spending time with his family, and also belonged to the American Legion and the Chisholm Senior Citizens.
Floyd retired from his job as a bookmobile driver at the Arrowhead Library System after 27 years. Prior to that, he had worked for many years in the Albany and the Hanna underground, then later open-pit iron mines.
He never found a challenge too big, and he always was willing to help others.
Floyd is survived by his son, Ryan Thomas (Katherine) Braski; grandsons, Evan Thomas Braski and Daniel Braski; and siblings, Richard Braski Jr., Patricia Braski, and Ronald (Sharon) Braski.
His nephews and nieces were very special to him, Scott (Wendy) Braski, Martin Garret, William (Gabriela) Braski, Donna Braski, David (Sarah) Braski, Jonathan Braski, Shane Kubesh, Seth Kubesh, Kelsey (Jacob) Spehar, Nathan Braski, Thomas Braski, and Dylan Braski.
He also had many close friends over the years that he cared about deeply.
Floyd was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Bertha Braski.
An ultimate woodsman who followed the call of the loon more than a compass, Floyd had an incredible work ethic, was always in good spirits, and full of humour.
A gathering for family, neighbours, and friends will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 from noon-3 p.m. at the Balkan Community Center (6061 MN-73, Chisholm, Mn., 55719).
