Shirley Geil, 90, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016 in Santa Rosa, Calif.
She was born in Fort Frances, Ont. in 1925, a daughter of Howard and Mabel Wees.
She grew up in Fort Frances, spending her summers at the family cabin on Rainy Lake, fishing and swimming, and her winters playing hockey and ice skating.
Shirley married Earl M. Geil in 1944 and moved to the United States, living in California since 1959.
She was hard-working, loving, and devoted to her family. Friends and family always were welcome in her home and at her dinner table.  
Shirley is survived by four children, Rory (Sheree) Geil, Kathy Conner, Howard Geil, and Tammie (Dale Jennings) Tessier-Jennings; daughter-in-law, Stacy Geil; six grandchildren, Neal (Traci) Tessier, Tiffani (Hazen) Talbott, Greg (Stephanie) Geil, Dan Geil, Amber (Donnie) Bamberg, and Cody Geil; and four great-grandchildren, Dagny Talbott, William Tessier, Hannah Geil, and Holly Geil.
Shirley was a member of the Galt Senior Club, B&B Club, and Red Hats. She also was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Community Church of Sebastopol, and enjoyed knitting, sewing, camping, baking, and putting on teas.
She will be remembered as a loving and generous friend, mother, and wife.
A celebration of her life will be held Oct. 22, 2016 from 1-4 p.m. at the Jennings’ property in Wilton, Calif.
