Carl Joseph Perreault, 82, of St. Helens, Ore., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016 in his home in St. Helens.
He was born June 7, 1934 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Amos and Laura Perreault.
His wife, Jane, whom he was with for 57 years, passed away in June, 2015.
In his youth, Carl worked as a trapper, fishing guide, and sawmill worker in Ontario until 1964. Then in 1965, he started at Pope and Talbot (later Boise Cascade Veneer) in St. Helens, where he worked for 32 years until retiring in 1997.
He was a log scaler there for many years, then operated heavy equipment his last few decades.
Just prior to moving to Oregon in the early 1960s, Carl saved a man’s life in a sawmill fire that destroyed the mill and was injured himself.
He coached his two youngest sons in Little League baseball for four years in the late 1970s. He also loved fishing, woodworking, travelling, and spending time with his grandkids.
As well, Carl loved setting up for an early retirement for himself and his beloved “Janie.”
Carl was predeceased by his parents, Amos and Laura, and wife, Janie; four daughters, Pamela Perreault, Debbie Cheechuk Sittingdown Hegge, Jennifer Perreault, and Cindy McLeod; brother, James Perreault; two sisters, Elsie Havluk and Catherine Bruyere; and grandson, Joshua.
Carl is survived by two sisters, Myrtle Bruyere and Brenda Monastryski; two daughters, Laurie Perreault and Joyce Connolly; four sons, Brian, Clint, and Milton Perreault, and Tommy Cheechuk; six granddaughters, Lynne Dawn, Mary, Laura, Jeanne, Tosha, and Kathleen; 10 grandsons, Thomas, Steve, Leonard, Marcel, Johnny, Joey, Jeremy, Kurt, Patrick, and Garrett; and great-grandchildren too numerous to mention.
