William (Bill) Hadley Clink passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Thunder Bay, Ont.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Emily (Walton), and their five children, Lorie (John) Grandmont of London, Ont., Tanis (Lyndon) Lauzon of Thunder Bay, Ont., Cathy (Howard) Robertson of London, Ont., Gordon (Kim) of Fort Frances, Ont., and Rachel (Ben) Hebert of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by his brother, David (Patricia) of Kenora, Ont.; sister, Joyce Barron of Barwick, Ont., and brother Donald (Jeannie) of Barwick, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Hazel Clink; and sister, Lorraine Lowe.
Bill was born Feb. 14, 1933 in Chapple, Ont. and he lived his entire life in Rainy River District.
Bill and Emily were married on March 26, 1959 in Emo, Ont.
He worked various jobs, his last position being with Ontario Corrections, where he retired after 25 years of service in 1992. Following his “retirement,” he served as councillor and then reeve of Chapple Township for more than a decade.
Bill and Emily were recognized in 2013 by the Ontario government for their volunteer service as curators of the Chapple Museum.
Bill had a deep faith in God, and was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church and later Barwick Community Church for many years.
Bill had many interests and hobbies, including music, gardening, hockey, baseball, hunting, fishing, and farming. His most enjoyable times were spent with family and friends. And like his mother, Hazel, he always was up for a game of Scrabble.
A celebration of Bill’s life was held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Barwick Community Hall, with Pastor Mark Mast officiating.
Interment took place in the Barwick Cemetery.
