In loving memory of husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the family of David Philip Bragg announces his passing.
David passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at the age of 89, at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
David was born near Loon Lake, Chapple Township, Ont. on Oct. 3, 1926 to Milton and Anna Bragg.
David loved hunting, fishing, trapping, golfing, and spending time at Pony Lake with his family. David’s greatest passion was his family and he was happiest when they were together.
David was very creative and spent many hours in his shop, doing his own repairs as well as those for his friends and neighbours.
David was a lifelong cribbage player. He went out on a winning streak—even though he “never got a cut.”
He was united in marriage to Eileen Brown on Aug. 7, 1957. Together, they raised seven children, Danny (Cheryl), Karen (Gary), Bo (Leslie), Barry, Juanita (Ian), Monique (Bill), and Ginger.
He will be sadly missed by his immediate family; and his extended family, Bill Baxter, and Bill and Cheryl Low.
David also is survived by his brothers-in-law, Roy (Marilyn) and Al (Shirley); sister-in-law, Edna (Chuck); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by nine siblings; daughter, Juanita; and grandson, Nathaniel.
A celebration of David’s life will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont., with The Rev. MJ Leewis-Kirk officiating.
Internment will take place in Finland Cemetery at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers will be John Westra, Bill Low, Kevin Low, Geoff Wheatstone, Bill Baxter, and Ian Bruce.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Rainycrest Activation Fund c/o Northridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 89, Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0 or the Alzheimer’s Society Kenora-Rainy River District.
