DOUGLAS ARTHUR (‘DOUG’) WILSON

With family by his side, Douglas Arthur (“Doug”) Wilson passed away on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016.
He was born in Fort Frances, Ont. to Joe and Dorothy Wilson on Jan. 8, 1942.
Doug lived his entire life in Fort Frances and was a career mill worker. He was the friendly face that greeted when you paid your toll crossing the bridge, and then moved to Supervisor at the MD&W railroad.
Doug enjoyed many years curling, golfing, fishing, and hunting. His favourite summer trip was going to Sowden fishing with his buddies.
He loved to watch hockey during the winter months. He would travel anywhere just to watch Cody and Zach play—he was their number-one fan.
Dad loved to drive around town just to see what was going on. He was a familiar face at the local coffee shops and the seniors’ centre during the day, and often seen driving Don and friends in the evening.
Doug was close to all of his brothers and sisters, and really enjoyed all family gatherings with his nieces, nephews, and their families.
Doug will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his daughter, Dede, son-in-law, Don McCool, and grandsons, Cody (Kailey) and Zach (Michelle); his son, Joey (Vanessa), granddaughters, Diamond and Jade, and grandsons, Justin and Kyle Desautelis; and stepchildren, Krista Salchert-Johnson and Steven Salchert.
Also surviving are his sisters, Mavis (Bill) Rushak, Alvina Parmeter, and Peggy Warren; and brothers, Ardon (Pauline) and Howard (Karon).
He was predeceased by parents, Dorothy and Joe; daughter, Desiree; sister, Ann Pearson; brothers-in-law, Gerald Pearson, Wally Parmeter, and Ken Warren; nephews, Jason Wilson, and Micheal and Bradley Rushak; great-nephew, Aaron Thrones; and cousin, Tom Booth.
At Doug’s request, a Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 in Fort Frances. This will be a come-and-go gathering.
The honourary pallbearers will be all of Doug’s family and friends.
Cremation has taken place.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.
