It is suddenly we announce the passing of our mother, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, Tania Indian, at the age of 36, of Big Island and Big Grassy First Nations.
Tania peacefully passed away in her sleep on Jan. 2, 2016 in Big Grassy, and has been called home to be back with Spirit and to re-unite with those who have journeyed before her.
Tania was predeceased by her mother, Darlene Indian; sister, Melanie Dawn Indian; brother, Leland Indian; maternal grandparents, Mary (nee Morrison) and Norman Indian; and paternal grandparent, Dave Seymour, and Christine Big George.
She leaves a beautiful legacy to remember her by through her daughter, Kaelin Indian; father, Isaac BigGeorge/Seymour; brothers, David Indian and Matt Comegan; moms, Marlene Indian and Lori Comegan, sisters, Lynn Indian, and Mia and Destinee Comegan; and numerous cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends.
Born Sept. 12, 1979, Tania enjoyed living life and had lived in a various places, making friends with people whom she later considered to be her family.
After graduating from high school, she moved to Ottawa, Ont. and later Thunder Bay, Ont. When she came home, she brought her baby home to be raised with her family.
She also enjoyed playing baseball in her younger days and recently found a passion in sewing—a new-found hobby that let her think and express herself creatively through her projects.
She also was very fond of crosswords and word puzzles, reading, and expanding her mind. She especially enjoyed her time spent with her loving daughter, Kaelin, laughing and cooking.
A viewing service began at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 at the Big Grassy Community Hall in Big Grassy First Nation, followed by a traditional wake service beginning at 8 p.m.
A traditional funeral service was held Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Big Grassy Community Hall.
The pallbearers were Tyson Penner, Robert Indian, Doug Seymour, Sean Comegan, Matt Comegan, and Carl Jr. BigGeorge (Gun).
The honorary pallbearers were her very best of friends and family, Charity Rose, Jennifer Copenace, Shelly Jones, Deb Whetzel Suzy Ogema, and Janine Copenace, and her Ottawa tribe.
Mom,
I am going to miss you lots. I’m going to miss all the fun we had. I am going to miss your laugh when I tell a joke. Your laugh was my favourite thing about you.
There are a lot of things that I loved about you but your laugh was my favourite. Every time you heard something funny, you would laugh and it would make everything seem happier.
I am going to miss everything about you. Everyone will miss you. When you see all of our family and friends, give them all a big hug from me and the family here.
