Troy Kenneth Basaraba, 42, of Cloquet, Mn., passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at the Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 30, 1972 in Fort Frances, Ont.
Troy was involved in football, hockey, and track and field in high school. He graduated from Falls High School in 1991 and later attended the University of North Dakota; Troy was a “huge” Fighting Sioux fan!
Troy was united in marriage to the former Amy Fox on Aug. 21, 2004. He presently was employed as Facility Security Director at MSOP-Moose Lake.
Troy was an amazing husband and father; he would do anything for his family.
He enjoyed coaching youth hockey, and Little League, as well as spending time hunting and fishing at the family cabin at Red Gut Bay and also the new hunting cabin with family and friends.
Troy was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Leo Cassibo; and paternal grandparents; John and Sophie Basaraba.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Basaraba; son, Landon James Basaraba; daughter, Lauren Ellen Basaraba; parents, Ken and Karen Basaraba; brother, Shannon (Sandy) Basaraba; and niece and nephews, Nicholas and Brianna Basaraba, Tristen and Victoria Edberg, and Mitchell and Kalan Tomczak.
He also is survived by his mother- and father-in-law, Steve and Kelly Fox; sister-in-law, Stephanie (Paul) Dremmel; nephews, Bradyn, Max, and Nate Dremmel; and many special friends.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Elks Lodge #1599 in International Falls, Mn.
