HELEN OIEN

Helen Oien

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Helen Oien, on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015.
Mom was born Dec. 9, 1926 to Axel Anderson and Laura (Ducharme), and was raised in Gameland, Ont. She was a true pioneer.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ken; only sister, Dorothy Bonot (Art); nephew, Nevin Bonot; sons-in-law, Robbie Rea and Michael Boileau; brother-in-law, Noel Oien; and sisters-in-law, Gladys Bigelow and Bernie Salchert.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Merv) and Kathy; four grandchildren, Mark (Marsha) Boileau, Rene (Sherry) Boileau, Scott (Stephanie) Rea, and Sean (Marcelle) Rea, and seven great-grandchildren; nephew, Bryan (June) Bonot; Diane Bonot; and special niece, Denise Bliss.
Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Vivian O’Donnell, Evy St. John, Eileen Alexander, and June Robinson; and nieces and nephews.
Mom was a great cook—no one left her home hungry. She also loved animals, especially dogs, cats, and birds.
In her memory, please be kind to an animal today.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
