It is with sadness that the family of Theodorus Johannes Duivenvoorden announces his passing on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at the age of 90, at the Grandview Lodge in Thunder Bay, Ont.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Apolonia (nee Bunnik); daughter, Yvonne; and granddaughter, Fleur.
Proud father of Marlene (Louis Seesahai) and Erick (Vivianne); son-in-law, Casimir Zimowski (husband of Yvonne), Connie (Dan Carney), Michael (Shelagh Ryan), and Harold (Krista); and loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Theo was born in Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands, one of 12 children. He emigrated in 1952 to Waskeda, Man., prior to settling on a dairy farm in Devlin, Ont., where he raised his family.
Theo enjoyed farming, gardening, and woodworking in his retirement years.
His greatest joy was seeing the fruits of his labour and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, sharing his later years with Cas, Shannon, and Karleen.
A funeral mass was held Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Emo, Ont., with Fr. Allan Lapay officiating.
Interment will take place in Emo Cemetery at a later date.
