GUY FARLEY SIMMONS

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Guy Simmons, 62, of Emo, Ont., on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015.
Guy was born Oct 22, 1953 in Churchill, Man. to William and Nellie Simmons.
On Aug. 11, 1973, he was united in marriage to Lois Venne.
Guy worked for years in the logging industry, driving truck and cutting and skidding wood until an injury forced him to change career paths. That path led him to Emo Sales and Service, where he obtained his Class ‘A’ mechanic licence.
The years that followed saw him obtain his truck and coach licence, as well, working for Big Timber Ltd. and J.T.J. Contracting.
Guy enjoyed fishing and hunting, and having coffee with friends in the morning before work. He also enjoyed many other outdoor activities, including gardening.
He leaves behind his wife, Lois Simmons of Emo, Ont.; four children, Robert (April) Simmons of Emo, Ont., Michelle (Curtis) Mackenzie of Thunder Bay, Ont., Mike Simmons (Hilary Lockhart) of Emo, Ont., and Nicole Simmons (Roland Roy) of Fort Frances, Ont.; and grandchildren, Zack Simmons and Makayla McCorrister.
Also surviving is his step-father, Robert Brown of Stratton, Ont.; brothers, Grant Simmons of Thunder Bay, Ont. and Miles Brown of Atikokan, Ont.; sisters, Connie VanDrunen of Thunder Bay, Ont., Liana Brown (Dick Byrnes) of Fort Frances, Ont., and Cheryl (Bruce) Masson of Petersfield, Man; mother-in-law, Marion Venne of Emo, Ont.; brothers-in-law, Don (Pat) Venne of Emo, Ont. and Garry (Diane) Venne of Emo, Ont.; sister-in-law, Lucille Venne (John Nabb) of Kenora, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Guy was predeceased by his parents, William Simmons and Nellie Brown; brother, Harold Brown; father-in-law, Art Venne; sisters-in-law, Carmen Simmons, Teresa Brown, and Lynn Venne; and brother-in-law, Ben VanDrunen.
Cremation has taken place and a private ceremony will occur at a later date.
A visitation for friends and family will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo.
