George Arthur Nault passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015.
He was born Nov. 17, 1929 in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was a hard-working boy whose early entrepreneurial skills allowed him to help his family after his father’s death.
When he grew up, he put these skills to good use and became a successful businessman.
He met and married Leora Avis Gill, with whom he had six children. Tragically, he lost Avis while the children still were young, so he singlehandedly raised them until he met his second wife, Shirley Marie (nee Colvin).
George leaves behind his wife, Shirley; daughter, Jan (Len) of Fort Frances, Ont., daughter Lori (Jim) of Fort Frances, Ont., son, Frank (Gab) of East Clifford, N.S., son, Rod (Kim) of Emo, Ont., and youngest son, Dave (Carrie) of Dryden, Ont.; and his stepdaughter, Tammy (Bill) Fort Frances, Ont. and his youngest stepdaughter, Julie (Sandy) of Fort Frances, Ont.
He also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Sandy Nault, and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many friends and family from around North America.
George was predeceased by his mother, Nora (nee Oulette); father, Joseph; first wife, Leora Avis; brothers, Tom “Sweeny,” Joseph “Joe,” and Lawrence “Larry”; one sister, Lydia “Tootsie” Riese; his oldest son, Daniel “Danny”; stepson, Daniel Colvin; and grandson, Robert.
After retirement, George loved to spend his summers out at the cabin, and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He also loved to travel and took many expeditions throughout Canada and the U.S. with his wife, Shirley, by his side.
George did not want a funeral or any fuss after his passing because, as in his own words, “I’m tired of funerals and sadness.”
So in lieu of a fuss, the next time you catch a nice walleye, or see the Milky Way splattered across a beautiful star-studded sky, take a deep breath and be joyful.
