NICK ELUIK

Nick Eluik, 74, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Thunder Bay, Ont. with his family by his side.
Nick was born Jan. 10, 1941 in Stuartburn, Man. to Steve and Annie Eluik.
When he was very young, the family moved to Deerlock, Ont.
He started his career path as an automotive mechanic in Fort Frances, then became a heavy equipment mechanic in Aitkokan, Red Deer, Alberta, and Thunder Bay.
He ended his working days as an equipment co-ordinator for the Ministry of Transportation in Thunder Bay.
Nick was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Many good times were spent at the cabin on Rainy Lake, Howie’s hunting farm, and at Pine Point Resort on Lac de Mille Lacs.
Our yard is a haven for wildlife, and he thoroughly enjoyed watching all the animals and birds that visited our place.
Nick is survived by Sonja, his wife of 48 years, and his son, Darren, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and daughter, Melissa, of Toronto, Ont.
Also surviving are his brothers, Paul (Bev) and John (Judy); sisters, Mary Holland, Iris (Leo Langlois), and Alice (Roger Lougheed); and special nephew, Jamie Eluik; as well as Sonja’s sisters, Christine and Florence, and brothers, Gordon and Melvin, and their families.
He was predeceased by his parent; brothers, William and Mike; sisters, Helene and Lillian; and parents-in-law, Ole and Margaret Haukaas.
A celebration of Nick’s life will be held Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Nor’Wester Hotel in Thunder Bay.
