The family sadly announces the passing of Ava Howard, 61, of Calgary, Alta., on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the South Wood Hospice in Calgary.
Ava was born Jan. 11, 1954 in Emo, Ont. to Fred and Iris (McDonald) Howard. She grew up near Barwick, Ont. along with her four siblings.
Ava worked for many years for Larry Eustace Law Office as a paralegal in Fort Frances, Ont. before relocating to Calgary in 1991. She continued to work as a paralegal for various law firms in Calgary.
Ava had a strong work ethic and her greatest joy was being able to spend time with her grandson, Evan, before her passing.
Ava will be greatly missed by her son, Don (Evelyn) and grandson, Evan, of Calgary, Alta.; brother, Derick (Rita) Howard of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and sister, Ruth (Bob) Teeple of Black Hawk, Ont.
She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ava was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Iris; and brothers, Brian and Doug.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, with Rev. Eileen Bragg officiating.
Interment took place in the Barwick Cemetery in Barwick, Ont.
The pallbearers were Len Howard, Howard Teeple, Jim Teeple, Hal Hughes, David Hughes, and Paul Evans.
