ALICE GILBERT

Mrs. Alice Lilian Gilbert, 82, passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Alice was born Nov. 12, 1932 in Fort Frances, Ont.; she enjoyed remembering the fun she had as a child there with her friends and family.
As a young wife and mother, Alice lived in Flanders, Ont. and then settled in Atikokan, Ont., where she was blessed with many good friends and neighbours.
She moved to Thunder Bay in 1979 and enjoyed an independent life for many years, often travelling to visit friends and relatives across Ontario and out west.
Alice is survived by her children, Don Gilbert and Lori Gilbert (Len Maki); grandchildren, Emma, Sarah, Heather, and Roseanne; and great-grandchildren, Anthony Joseph and Kacie Rae.
Also surviving are her brother, James Lamb and sister-in-law, Maxine Lamb; sister-in-law, Arlene Lamb; brother-in-law, Alan Hampshire; close friend, Sue Olsen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Anthony Gilbert; son, Robert Joseph Gilbert; her parents, William and Laura Lamb; sister, Laurabel Hampshire; brother, Bill Lamb; nephews, Earl Billson and Neal Hampshire; and common-law partner of many years, Bob Broome.
A celebration of Alice’s life was held Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the Barcelona Room of the Airlane Hotel in Thunder Bay, with Christina Stricker officiating.
Interment and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Little Falls Cemetery in Atikokan.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
