GERALD ALFRED BROWN

It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that the family of Gerald Alfred Brown announces his peaceful passing on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
Gerald was born July 1, 1920 in Stratton, Ont. to Alfred and Clara Brown. He attended Pattullo #6 School before farming and logging north of Stratton for many years.
He was united in marriage to Merveline Ahrens on Aug. 7, 1946.
He served as a councillor for Morley Township for several years, as well as a school board trustee. He also was a long-time member of the Rainy River District Cattlemen’s Association.
In 1991, Gerald and Merveline left the farm and moved to Emo, Ont., where they enjoyed dancing, cards, and many outings with friends.
In 2009, they moved to Flinder’s Place in Fort Frances and then became residents of Rainycrest in July of this year.
Gerald leaves behind his wife, Merveline; daughters, Barbara (James) Metcalfe of The Pas, Man., Judith (Harry) Mercer of Thunder Bay, Ont., Marjorie (John) Boudreau of Iroquois Falls, Ont., and Alfreda (Wilmer) Cheslock of Dryden, Ont.; grandchildren, Christine (Clarence) McDonald, Jennifer (Chris) Keller, Bridget (Daniel) Maksymchak, Neal (Heather) Boudreau, Darcy (Trisha) Boudreau, Jillian (Dan Dube) Boudreau, Rhiannon (Steven) Sachowski, and Kelsey (Brian Gasbarini) Cheslock; and great-grandchildren, Lucas and Caitlin McDonald, Hinako Cheslock, Adeline Boudreau, Jace Keller, and Summer Sachowski.
He also is survived by his sisters, Marjorie Croome and Ruby Duns; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Brown, Ella (Lawrence) Desserre, and Shirley (Robert) Gadd; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents; grandson, Blake Cheslock; and sister, Josephine Benson.
A memorial service was be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Barbara Miller officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers were Gerald’s grandchildren.
