Linda Darlene Beck, “Bakakoons” from Adik–Caribou Clan, 65, of International Falls, Mn., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 at the Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Mn.
Linda was born Sept. 10, 1948 in Emo, Ont. She grew up at Manitou Rapids First Nation.
The former Linda Hunter was united in marriage to Joseph Beck on July 15, 1965.
In her early years, Linda was employed as a social worker at Weechi-it-te-win Family Services, with various other jobs in her lifetime.
She was known for a very beautiful voice; she loved to sing Patsy Kline and Kitty Wells songs. Her hobbies also included Bingo, pool, bowling, cards, and playing candy crush.
Of all things in her life, Linda most enjoyed spending time with her family; her sons and grandchildren. She was a very attentive grandmother, auntie, and friend. She loved family gatherings, never missing special events and celebrations.
She was predeceased by her first child, Little Joe; parents, Art and Helen Hunter; sister, Marlene Reff; and uncle, Harold McGinnis.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Beck; sons, Clinton (Laurie) Beck and Matthew Beck; grandchildren, Jodi (Derrick), Jennifer, Josephine (Terry), Alexis, Riley, Celeste (Nick), Kayla (Daniel), and Kevin; and great-grandchildren, Nyssa, Kyara, Mikhayla, Allison, Abbigail, Gabriel, Neko, Milo, and Jeremiah.
Also surviving are her nieces, Becky and Jana (Dan) and four great-nephews; and siblings, Rupert (Sandy) Hunter, Leona, Bev (Al) Wilson, Agnes (Gilbert) Grover, Sonny, and Willie (Tina).
She also is survived by her aunt and mother figure, Genny Mcginnis; and other numerous close cousins and friends.
Linda also leaves behind the family she adopted, Shirley, Bill, and Liz (Keith).
On her paternal Hunter side of the family, she leaves behind Gloria, Bobby, Bert, Joe, Lorraine, Doreen, Irene, Sarah, and Art.
A memorial service was held Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in International Falls.
