ELSIE (MILLER) GOSSELIN

It is with great sadness that the family of Elsie Gosselin announces her passing on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born Feb. 14, 1933 in Humboldt, Sask. to Joe and Mary Miller.
The family left Saskatchewan when she was a small girl, settling in Stratton, Ont., where they ran the prison farm for many years. Then they moved to the Domanski farm in Crozier.
Elsie met Ken Gosselin in 1949 and they were united in marriage on June 27, 1952.
She worked at the New Lunch Café for Shorty Labbe for many years before joining the staff of the Red Dog Inn when it opened. She retired in 1980.
Elsie loved to be out in the garden, tending to her flowers and helping her vegetables grow. She spent many falls canning her harvest.
Elsie and Ken had one son, Kim. The two grandchildren he gave her were the light of her life. She loved having them “next door” and seeing them every single day.
After Mom retired, she continued her worship and belief in God as a proud member of St. Mary’s Church and with her many friends in the C.W.L. It was here she found great peace and happiness that she passed down through her family.
She was most proud and happy to see her grandchildren (Trace and Kennedi) be confirmed and find their own way as members of St. Mary’s.
Elsie leaves behind her husband, Ken, of almost 62 years of marriage; son, Kim and wife, Jo-Ann; and grandchildren, Trace and Kennedi.
She also is survived by her siblings, Rose (Albert) Payne, John Miller, Jean McHugh, and Ed (Leigh) Miller; sisters-in-law, Laura McConnell and Elaine Bone; brothers-in-law, Fred (Evie), Bob (Pat), and Keith (Joanne) Gosselin; special friends, Pat and Donna Dittaro and their children, Jade (Jeff) and Cody; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Elsie was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Mary Miller; parents-in-laws, Alfred and Elizabeth Gosselin; and siblings, Charlie Miller, Joe Miller, Jack Miller, Bill Miller, Arnie Miller, Dorothy Crawford, Claire Brennard, Mary Faulkner, and Ruth Miller.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Fr. Victor De Gagné will officiate, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be Brad Miller, Rick Faulkner, Warren Gosselin, Carey Gosselin, Brian Hall, and Mike Brennard.
An Honour Guard will be provided by the Catholic Women’s League.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be given to the Canadian Cancer Society or La Verendrye Hospital.
