EDRA LOUISE NEILSON

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edra (Ed) Louise Neilson (nee Lougheed) on Sept. 4, 2013 at age 86 in Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, B.C.
Edra was born Dec. 16, 1927 in Emo, Ont., later moving to B.C., where she met the love of her life, Tom Nielson.
Edra is survived by her daughter, Charlene Nielson; sisters, Ollie (Ray) Stewart, Alice (Bob) Judson of Kelowna B.C., Irene Lougheed, and Donna Stewart of Fort Frances, Ont.; brothers, Gerald Lougheed of Emo, Ont. and Willard Lougheed (Dorothy) of Sioux Narrows, Ont.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tom Nielson; sister, Leone Halverson of Nestor Falls, Ont., and brothers, Alf Lougheed of Fort Frances, Ont. and Orval Lougheed (Jean) of Kenora, Ont.
Mom was a kind, caring, gentle soul who loved her family, friends, horses, flowers, walking the Semiahamoo Trail, and hockey.
A devoted Vancouver Canucks’ fan, Mom was known to become very feisty when things were not going the Canucks way.
She also was a great cook and known for her famous turkey dinners. A “second Mom” to the “girls,” especially Michelle Hall, who will miss Mom’s cooking the most.
Edra was a devoted mom and always had time for her family, neighbours, and friends. Mom and Dad had a wonderful relationship that was rooted in love, honour, respect, and generosity.
A celebration of life took place Sept. 14 at the family home.
In memoriam donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Canucks For Kids Foundation.
Mom, you will be sorely missed but never forgotten as your spirit and your memory will live on within all of us who were fortunate to have had you in our lives.
You will always be remembered, loved, and treasured.
