ROSS PETERSON

It is with great sadness that we announce we have lost our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather, Ross M. Peterson, 76, of Bergland, Ont., on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at his family home.
Ross was born Oct. 27, 1936 in Rainy River, Ont. to Arthur and Gerda Peterson.
He was raised in Bergland and worked at different jobs in the Lake of Woods area for several years, including the family business at Peterson’s Stop & Shop, as well as guiding and logging in the community.
Ross later began working for Arctic Cat in Rainy River, which relocated his family over the years to Sault Ste. Marie, Peterborough, Shelburne, and finally Winnipeg, Man.
In 2002, Ross retired as president for Lund Boats of Canada and returned to Bergland. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time boating and fishing, watching and playing hockey and baseball, and travelling as much as possible.
He was a member of the Shelburne Lions Club and Bergland Trinity Lutheran Church, and was very active in the Bergland area community.
Ross had a positive outlook on life, which gave him the strength to overcome his failing health. He lived life to the fullest and will be remembered for his warm personality and humour.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol (nee Dalseg); mother, Gerda; children, Mary (Rick), Patti, Krista (Josh), and Heather (Craig); stepchildren, David and Dawn; and grandchildren, Haley, Sydney, Tyler, Jordyn, Alex, Andrew, Carson, Joel, and Caitlyn.
Also surviving is his brother, Duane; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Ross was predeceased by his wife, Verene (nee Hamilton) in 1996; father, Arthur; and sister-in-law, Ella Peterson.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at 11.a.m. at the Bergland Community Hall in Bergland, with Lay Pastor Carolyn Kreger officiating.
Interment will take place in the Bergland Cemetery.
The honourary pallbearers will be Leonard Larson, Bobby Tofte, George Pratt, Donny Boyd, Brent Sands, John Malloy, and Dean Allen.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Rainy River Health Centre c/o Northridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 89, Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0.
