Christopher Lee Jack, 38, a resident of Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation, passed away tragically on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at his brother’s home.
Chris’ favourite pastime was spending time reading, researching, and studying the constellation systems. Many a night he would look at the constellations, and he also would do further research and find out the mythological aspects, time, and space continuum.
Chris was very fascinated with the star movements over billions and billions of years, and he felt they had a story and could unlock information as to where we are going and where we have been.
He downloaded an app on his sons’ iPods so they also could learn the constellation systems.
Chris couldn’t understand to why others didn’t have what he called an open mind, and tried to explain his research in quantum physics.
When Chris had the opportunity to be with his sons, he was very attentive to their needs and played a maternal and paternal role in parenting.
Chris’ pride and joy were his sons, whom he cherished and loved dearly. He was known as “Babe” to his sons.
Chris was a member of the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation. He was born April 21, 1978 at the hospital in Fort Frances, Ont., where he lived until about age 16. He then resided within Rainy River District for the remainder of his years.
He was predeceased by his father, Brian Tuesday; his paternal grandparents, Martha Tuesday and Robert Tuesday; and his maternal grandparents, Ida Jourdain and Dave Paul.
He is survived by his girlfriend/partner, Michelyn Chiefson; his parents, Kathie Jack (husband, Doug Sinclair); and brothers Kevin Jack and Blair Jack. His surviving children are Leelan Chiefson and Christopher Jack.
Also surviving are his extended family brothers, Dan Jourdain (wife, Julia Carlson), Jason Kelly, and Cedrick Jack; sister, Joanne Crate; extended family sisters, Tesa Fiddler (husband, Alvin), Tracy Sakakeep (husband, Lloyd), Ashley Allan (husband, Paul), Rachel Big George (husband, Trevor Iserhof), Jenny Fernadez (husband, Antonio), and Shelly Big George.
He also is survived by his uncles, Ron Jack (wife, Shirley Allan), Percy Tuesday (wife, Linda), Martin Tuesday (wife, Violet), Bobby Tuesday, Dave Paul (wife), Francis Paul, Conroy Paul, Bobby Paul, and Joe Jack (wife, Ginette George); his aunts, Corinne Jourdain (husband, Jacques Sylvestre), Virginia Big George (husband, Jim Spruce), Caroline Jack, Delores Kelly, Rosie Gunderson, Lorna Tuesday, and Sophia Paul; and extended family aunt, Lorraine Shebahkeget (husband, Richard Swampy).
Chris also had two nephews and one great-nephew, and he was very close to all of his cousin (too numerous to mention).
A wake will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Onigaming First Nation gymnasium.
A traditional burial ceremony, officiated by Elder Lawrence Henry, will take place Wednesday, July 17, 2013. Everyone is invited to attend.
The pallbearers will be Kelvin Kelly, Julian Shebahkeget, Trev Copenace, Kevin Copenace, Bob Copenace, and Derek Kelly.
