It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis B. McFee, 88, of Fort Frances, Ont., announces her passing on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances after a very brief illness.
Born in Portsmouth, England on Jan. 15, 1925, she immigrated to Canada at the end of WW II (1946) to join her husband, E. Donald McFee, whom she had married during the war.
Phyl was an avid gardener and a skilled artist of many genres (fine art, needle craft, knitting, and crocheting, as well as being a fabulous seamstress).
She loved music, and all creatures great and small. The birds and animals surrounding her home will greatly miss her generous spirit!
She also was a true friend to all who knew her, but especially to her fellow “sisters” from England—The Overseas Wives Club—and to her wonderful neighbours, Bernice and Don Kress and Myrna and Rick Cooper.
Phyl was predeceased by her husband, Donald; and parents, Albert and Rose Pyle.
She is survived by her two children, Deirdre (DeeDee) Graham (Lloyd) of Lucknow, Ont. and Derek and Janis of Atikokan, Ont.; three grandchildren, Kimberley Brouillet (Kurt) of Minneapolis, Mn., Daryl of Oakville, Ont., and Adria of Lucknow, Ont.; and three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Alexander, and Sabra Brouillet.
Also left to miss her immensely is her beautiful cat, Si.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort Frances.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to a charity of your choice or a monetary gift (no tax receipt can be given as they are not a registered charity) to help unfortunate animals within the area can be given to the Nor-West Animal and would be greatly appreciated.
These expressions can be made c/o Northridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 89, Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0.
