Emil Robert “Bob” Strand Sr., 79, of International Falls, Mn., passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 at his home.
Emil was born Sept. 23, 1933 in Fort Frances, Ont., where he was raised.
He married Anna Zigler in 1966 in Sisseton, S.D. In 1969, he moved to International Falls, where he had lived since.
Before retiring, Emil was an electrician.
He enjoyed the outdoors, loved his fishing on Rainy Lake, as well as hunting, camping, and travelling.
He was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Virginia, Mn.
He was predeceased by his parents, John Sr. and Gertrude Strand; brother, Arthur Strand; sister-in-law, Rosemairi Strand; and two stepsons, Donald and Timothy Nass.
Emil is survived by his wife, Anna Strand; children, Paul (Judy) of Minneapolis, Mn., Emil Jr. and James (Tammie), all of International Falls, Mn., Cheryl (Randy) of Grand Rapids, Mn., and Robert Strand, Susan, Carol, Shelly, and Lisa, all of England; stepchildren, Arnold (Barb) Nass, Debra (Ted) Wolden, and Deann (Roger) Lehman, all of International Falls, Mn., and Thomas (Chris) Nass of Missouri; and stepdaughter-in-law, Laurie Nass of Bagley, Mn.
Also surviving are his brother, John (Tracey) Strand Jr. of Arizona; sister, Shirley (Gerald) Nixon of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in International Falls.
