It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Mutz, of Devlin, Ont., announces her passing on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Thunder Bay, Ont., with Danielle Gustafson at her side.
She was born Sept. 19, 1931 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Art and Bertha Livingstone.
In earlier years, she owned and operated Riverside Nursery in Devlin, Ont. until her retirement in 1998.
On Sept. 17, 1954, she was united in marriage to Nick Mutz. In 1969, they moved to Devlin.
Shirley was a member of Guthrie United Church in Devlin. Her interests included painting, flowers, gardening, playing cards, visiting friends, writing stories, and playing games with her grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Donna-Lori (Greg) Shoemaker of Fort Frances, Ont. and Tania (Don) Angus of Barwick, Ont.; sons, Richard Mutz of B.C., Tim (Laura) Mutz of Devlin, Ont., and David Mutz of Fort Frances, Ont.; one daughter-in-law, Geri Mutz of Devlin, Ont.; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dennis (Shirley) Livingstone of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nick Mutz, in 2006; son, Robert (Bob) Lee, in 2000; and her sister, Audrey Lloyd.
A memorial service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held Friday, April 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Guthrie United Church in Devlin, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Interment will take place in Box Alder Cemetery at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers will be Shirley’s grandchildren.
