GEORGINA (‘GEORGIE’) HALVERSON (HYATT)

Our hearts are sad to announce the loss of a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie. and friend.
Georgina (“Georgie”) Halverson, nee Hyatt, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 in Calgary, Alta. after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 14, 1928 to Jessie and John Hyatt, one of 11 children and the fourth daughter.
She grew up on a farm south of Devlin, Ont. and with her sisters and brothers, worked with Mom and Dad to make the farm a success and put food on the table.
She attended school at the Box Alder schoolhouse and then in her late teens moved to Winnipeg, Man. to work there.
It was there she met, fell in love, and married Ragnar (Rags) Halverson. From Winnipeg, she and Rags relocated to Calgary, where they made their home together and raised their family.
For many years she was a stay-at-home Mom taking care of and loving her children. Once they were grown, she spread her wings and found employment outside her home.
She enjoyed her endeavours and the interaction with the many people she came in contact with. Georgie really was a people person.
She was predeceased by her husband Rags; only son, Danny, and two grandsons, David and Jason; her parents, Jessie and John Hyatt; four sisters, Irene Dorosh, Pheme Larsen, Edith Jeffrey, and Lucy Peltonen, and three brothers, Bob, Wilbur, and Garnet Hyatt.
She also was predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Marie and Bernice Hyatt, Helena Sanbstrom, and Evelyn Lunsbon; and brothers-in-law, Alex Dorosh, Edwin Jeffrey, Ed Peltonen, Harold Gilbertson, and Harry and Frank Halverson.
She leaves to remember her with love, her daughters, Roxanne Stephenson (Graeme) of Surrey B.C., Cindy Burge (Marc), Darlene Morcom, and Dianne Houghton (Moe Methot), all of Calgary, Alta., and Glenda Johnson (Ted) of International Falls, Mn.; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She also leaves two sisters, Nellie Primrose (Earl) of Surrey, B.C. and Madeline Gilbertson of Kenora, Ont.; one brother, Bruce of Truro, N.S.; and many nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Lois Hyatt, Alfhild Johnson, and Hilder Meyer.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life was held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 in Calgary, with burial to follow at a later date.
Safe in the arms of Jesus, where there is no pain.
I Will Be There
I know you will grieve, And shed some tears, But remember the fun times, Over the years. You must go on, With a gallant smile, Be happy, for I’ll be with you, All the while.
My spirit is free now, my soul at peace. I live in your hearts, where love does not cease.
I am with you in the winds that blow. I’ll walk with you in winter’s fresh snow. I’ll be there with you with the flowers of spring. I’ll watch the smiles new life can bring.
My life was fulfilling, right to the end, as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend.
Cherish the good times in the coming days, for I will be with you, now and always.
