With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Michael Freeman on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012.
Michael was born Nov. 4, 1961 in Fort Frances, Ont., the fifth son born to the late Allan and Edna Freeman.
He attended Fort High and Condeferation College.
During his career, he was the sports editor at the Fort Frances Times, where he received a regional, provincial, and national award for his photography. He also was employed by CFOB as a radio announcer and news director.
Michael loved hockey and spent many years announcing games for the Muskies and Lakers.
Michael was united in marriage to the late Cheryl Louise Null on Sept. 23, 2001.
He is survived by his brothers, Allen (Kathy) of Brampton, Ont., Everett, and Lanny (Sue) Freeman; nieces, Sarah (Chris) Freeman-Kivimaki of Fort Frances, Ont. and Beth (Dan) Freeman-Wrolstad of Dryden, Ont.; nephew, Mark (Erin) Freeman of London, Ont.; as well as great-nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are his step-children, Eric (Danielle) and Chris (Kim) Pulley of Henderson, N.C.; and four step-grandchildren.
Michael was predeceased by his wife, Cheryl; parents, Allan and Edna Freeman; infant brother, James; and brother-in-law, Jeff Null.
Memorial services will be held Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Knox United Church in Fort Frances, with the Rev. Barbara Miller officiating.
Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers will be the Fort Frances Muskies and the Fort Frances Lakers.
