Cecil Leonard Fletcher, 79, of Off Lake, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at the Emo Health Centre in Emo, Ont. after a lengthy illness.
Cecil was born April 30, 1933 in Woodyatt Twp, Ont. to James and Florence Fletcher.
Cecil worked at various jobs over his lifetime, including logging for Jack Finch and working on construction for Towlands for many years. He also did many long hauls of equipment from Kenora to London, Ont.
His last job was working in the bush and driving gravel truck for Neil Van Drunen.
Cecil always was willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He retired in the spring of 2003 and had more time for camping, hunting, and fishing, which he really enjoyed.
He never missed the opening day of bird, deer, and moose hunting season until the last two years.
He also enjoyed travelling with his wife, Darlene, from coast to coast, as well as to Florida, Cuba, and many other places.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Darlene; son, Robert (Julie) of Thorold, Ont.; daughter, Barb of Halifax, N.S.; and his grandson, William.
He also is survived by his stepsons, Brian (Sandy) Gamie, Alex (Dorothy) Gamie, and Charles (Linda) Brough; stepdaughter, Marilyn Horseman; and his step-grandchildren, Brandon Ronmark, Masion, Colton, and Abby Gamie, Rodney, Billy, and Rhonda Horseman, and Bobby Jean Brough.
Also surviving are numerous great-grandchildren; his brothers, Melvin (Hermina), James (Gail), and Leslie (Sandra); sisters, Mae Truelove (Albert) and Ida Brunet (Vince); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cecil was predeceased by his parents, James and Florence Fletcher; niece, Teresa Brown; and grandson, Mathew Gamie.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
