Frank Allen James McClymont, born May 1, 1952 in Toronto, Ont., passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 in Kenora, Ont.
He was raised in Fort Frances, Ont., where, along with his brothers, he grew to enjoy the great outdoors. For work, Frank moved to Manitoba and lived there for 13 years in Winnipeg and Birds Hill.
In 1984, it was time to come back to the lake country, where Frank and Linda called Kenora home for 28 years.
Throughout his life, Frank was a passionate fisherman. When he was young, he always could be found dipping a line off a bridge in any of the numerous creeks in Fort Frances.
This past August marked Frank’s 25th participation in the Kenora Bass International tournament. Several times, when the tournament was still young, Frank had been either first or second going into the second day. Though he had never captured the prestigious first prize, he always had a big smile and a firm handshake for all the winners.
Frank used his passion for fishing, his capturing personality, and his devotion to both Kenora and Fort Frances by fishing in charity tournaments. He also served as an angler advisor, helped with fundraising events, and served on the KBI board of directors for seven years.
As a gesture of deep respect, the KBI council has dedicated the “Big Fish Award” to Frank and henceforth will be known as the “Frank McClymont Memorial Award.”
When not fishing or drinking coffee with friends, Frank enjoyed showing properties and selling real estate in the Kenora, Lake of the Woods, and surrounding areas. Many who knew him in his career believed him to be honest, fair, and a warm person to work with.
Left to celebrate his life are his wife and friend, Linda; son, Terry; son, Michael and wife, Michel (Olson), and grandson, Ethan, and granddaughter, Sara; and daughter, Jessi-Lyn.
Also surviving are his mother, Florence and her husband, Dave Lerman of Fort Frances, Ont.; and brothers, David of Fort Frances, Ont., and Guy and his wife, Kelly, and their daughters, Megen and Kaitlyn, of Winnipeg, Man.
Waiting for Frank is his brother, Gary, who we all have missed dearly these past few years.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 frin 1-4 p.m. at the Minis Hall in Kenora. Please share this time with our family.
In lieu of flowers, please make a same-value donation to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation.
