Reta Louisa Topham, 86, of 604 Armit Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Reta was born Sept. 30, 1925 in Emo, Ont. to the late Floyd and Elizabeth Bullied. She was united in marriage to Fred Topham on Nov. 23, 1943.
During the early years in Burriss, Ont., Reta was an active member of the Burriss Ladies Aid. In 1990, Reta and Fred moved to Fort Frances, where Reta bowled weekly at Plaza Lanes.
Family played a major role in Reta’s life always. She was a willing hostess for Friday afternoon lunches with her daughters, granddaughters, and grandchildren.
Reta will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Topham; one brother, Elwood Bullied in infancy; and one sister-in-law, Loraine Bullied.
Reta is survived by three daughters, Dona (Alton) Pollard, Diane (Allen) Woolsey, and Julie (Allan) Seed, all of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kim (James) Poole, Nancy (Gary) McAuley, Lynne (Chad) Avis, Tracy (Duane) Roen, Cheri Woolsey and Trevor Polay, Shane Seed, Rob (Raffaela) Seed, and Randy Seed; and great-grandchildren, Alison and Andrew Poole, Emerson and Isaiah McAuley, Peyton, Isabella, and Noah Avis, Dylan and Matthew Roen, and Tiffani Seed.
She also is survived by two brothers, Gerald Bullied and Eugene (Marvel) Bullied; as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Barbara Miller officiated, with interment in Burriss Cemetery in Burriss.
Family and friends visited prior to services Monday afternoon at Green Funeral Home.
The honourary pallbearers were Reta’s grandchildren.
