Patrick Foran, 78, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre.
Pat was born Feb. 9, 1934 in Fort Frances to Daniel and Olive Foran. He worked for the Mando paper mill and Boise Cascade for many years until retirement.
He had a great love for the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and guiding. Pat also loved spending time at the arena playing and watching hockey with his family and grandchildren.
Pat spent his last 40 years in sobriety through the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, and he was very proud of this accomplishment.
Pat will be greatly missed by his wife and long-time friend, Loretta, of Fort Frances, Ont.; his son, Patrick Gregory (Randi) of Selkirk, Man.; daughter, Laura (Sue) Foran-Ross; and his son, Michael (Carla), all of Fort Frances, Ont.
Pat will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Jessica, Nolan, and Davis; and great-granddaughter, Arianna.
Pat also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Olive Foran; and siblings, Donald (Harriet) Dault, Emma (Leonard) Thorn, and Daniel Jr. Foran.
A funeral mass was held Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Francis Pudicherry celebrant.
Interment will take place at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers were family and friends.
