Margaret Noreen Thomson, 77, of Atikokan, Ont., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 with her loving daughter at her side.
Marg was born Feb. 27, 1935 in Fort Frances, Ont. She first of two children born to James and Lydia O’Donnell, and attended school in Fort Frances.
Marg and Gary were married in 1955 in Fort Frances, and they moved to Atikokan in 1967 with their family.
Marg worked at the Atikokan Board of Education for almost 20 years. She always enjoyed her work and the strong relationship she shared with her co-workers.
After her retirement, she continued to work in the family business for many years.
Marg was a member of the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd and she devoted much of her time and attention to the church. Her family was of the utmost importance to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Marg spent her last six years under the wonderful and caring attention given by the staff at the Extended Care Wing of the Atikokan General Hospital.
Marg is survived by Gary, her husband of 57 years; daughter, Carol Thomson (Bob); son, Jim Thomson (Donna); grandchildren, Paul (Jen), Adam (Laura), Fawn (Michael), Rikki, and Tara; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Liam, Delaney, Sadie, and Jack.
She also is survived by her sister, Sheila McKelvie; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As Marg wished, cremation has taken place.
A funeral service for family and friends will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, with Rev. Ruth Ivall officiating.
