WELLINGTON WILLIAM MOULTON

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our dear friend, brother, and uncle after a courageous battle with cancer.
Wellington was born on Jan. 29, 1926 to William and Annie (Watson) Moulton. He was born, raised, farmed, and passed away on the original farm at the corner of Highway 71 and Moulton Road.
He joined the army as a rifleman with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He went overseas, landing in Grenok, Scotland and then on to Aldershot, England guarding prison camps.
He returned to Canada in 1946, and began working in the bush and farming. In the late 1960s, he worked in heavy construction until retirement at the age of 64.
Then it was smaller carpentry jobs for friends and neighbors until 2009. Some projects he worked on were Westfort High School, Manaki Lodge, Matabbi Mines, and Fort Frances paper mill, along with projects in Ignace and Sioux Lookout, the bridge to International Falls, and Nuwood Housing.
His last project was the Our Lady of the Way Catholic School.
Wellington enjoyed his pets, which he always had lots of. He had beef cattle for many years and sold the last of his cows this past January.
Besides shipping cream in the early days, he helped his mother, brother, and sisters farm and raise sheep, chickens, and turkeys.
He was a life member of the Emo Royal Canadian Legion Br# 99 and the Manitou Masonic Lodge # 631.
He was known for his terrific sense of humour and his willingness to help anyone who needed anything done. Family and friends meant a great deal to Wellington.
Wellington is survived by his sister, Fronie Moulton; sister-in-law, Jean Moulton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, William (Jan. 29, 1947); mother, Annie (Sept. 2, 1979); sisters, Beatrice (Arlene) Moulton (Jan. 19, 1986), Pansy Gibson (July 18, 1997), Alva Irvine (Nov. 18, 2007), and Thelma Carrier (Sept. 13, 1983); brother, Ivan (May 26, 2011); and brothers-in-law, Harold Gibson (1988), Roy Irvine (1996), and Bert Carrier (1962).
A graveside memorial service was held Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Barwick Cemetery, with Rev. Carl Emke officiating, accompanied by the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #99 Colour Party and the Manitou Masonic Lodge # 631.
The pallbearers were Rodger Irvine, Allan Teeple, Clayton Teeple, Jason Teeple, Ted Zimmerman, and Don Angus.
The honourary pallbearers were Stan Cottam, Les Helliar, Neil Grant, Fred Irvine, Raynard Croswell, and Rob Woolsey.
