ALLAN GEORGE HESKINS

Allan George Heskins, 79, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
He was born July 19, 1931 to George and Anne Heskins. The family lived in Sleeman, Ont. for many years before moving to Fort Frances.
Al worked at the Electric Bakery for Bill Cousineau during his high school years. He then worked with the local paper mill as a young man before joining the CNR as a car inspector.
He retired in 1985.
Al was united in marriage to Jo-Ann Kroon in November, 1957.
Al loved being outdoors, especially fishing and hunting with the Davis family at the Mantiou. He also enjoyed golfing and after retiring from the CNR, he took a job at the Kitchen Creek Pro Shop.
As well, he was an active member of St. Mary’s parish and a big supporter of Ducks Unlimited.
Al was predeceased by his wife Jo-Ann on Sept. 27, 1987; son, Doug Heskins; parents, George and Anne Heskins; brother, Stan Heskins; and sister, Margaret Heskins.
He leaves behind his son, David Heskins, and sister, Janice and husband, Larry Cousineau, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; sister-in-law, Ruth Heskins of Winnipeg, Man.; niece,
Krista Ballard (Mark McCaig) of Fort Frances, Ont.; and nephews, Derek (Heather) Ballard of Toronto, Ont. and Michael (Sherry) Heskins of Edmonton, Alta.
Al also will be missed by his constant companion and close friend, Priscilla Wright, of Fort Frances, Ont. As well, Grandpa Al will be fondly remembered by his two favourite little guys, Carson and Cale.
A funeral mass to celebrate Al’s life was held Monday, July 4, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances.
Cremation took place at the Rainy River Crematory in International Falls, Mn., with interment taking place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers were Ray Coran, Dan Livingston, Derek Ballard, Lorne McNay, Deane Cunningham, Don Cumming, Denis Wright, Bob Wright, Rod Davis, Mark Davis, and Larry Fontana.
