MONICA GRACE ELIAS STROMNESS

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Monica Stromness (nee Nesbit), of North Branch, Ont, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Monica was born June 27, 1951 in Clinton, Ont. to the late Frank and (Charlotte) Christine Nesbit.
On July 19, 1970, Monica married the late John Elias, with whom she had three children, Trina (Kelly) Wilson, Tony (Brenda) Elias, and Pam Elias (Ken Mac Dougall).
Monica then married Paul Stromness on June 20, 1992. They had one daughter, Barbara.
When we see beautiful flowers and gardens, we all will think of Monica and her ability to grow anything, as well as her desire to share what she had grown with friends and family.
Monica’s work ethic and sense of giving lives on in the actions of her children.
She was dearly loved, and is survived by her husband, her children, as well as her grandchildren, Andrew Wilson, Jaryd, Rachel, Gavin, and Tessa Elias.
Monica also will be greatly missed by her sisters, Charlotte (Bob) Berg and Rose (Mike Rupcic) Armstrong; her brothers, Jim (Louise) Nesbit, Frank Nesbit, and Larry (Irene) McKee; and her mothers-in-law, Irene Stromness and Esther Elias.
Monica was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Christine Nesbit; her first husband, John Elias; her stepmother, Miki Nesbit; and fathers-in-law, Archie Elias and Henry Stromness.
Monica will be greatly missed by her numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Monica’s life will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont., with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
The honourary pallbearers will be Wilmer Stang, Roy, Jim, and Mike Elias, and Larry and Eddie Stromness.
