Having recently battled many health complications, Clifford Tuesday, 60, of Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011, surrounded by family, at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was loved and raised by his grandmother, Anne Morrison, and he always cherished that time in his life. His traditional upbringing also included time spent with his aunts and uncles.
His work over the years involved pulp cutting, guiding for many of the local resorts, trapping with a special elder, working for the local fishery, operating a guide service, and managing Cedar Island Resort for Big Island.
Clifford worked hard at the jobs he had, retiring from his last employment position as education counsellor for Big Island.
In 1982, Clifford had the privilege of coaching a boys’ baseball team and was very proud of this special opportunity. His athletic history included playing hockey and baseball, waterskiing, downhill skiing, swimming, diving, lacrosse, and volleyball.
Clifford loved to fish, and also was a hunter. His knowledge and wisdom acquired from elders and other sources were shared with friends and family in numerous ways.
They will miss his never-ending sense of humour and his kind, gentle, and loving heart. Clifford loved to create moments to make people laugh and smile.
Rose Marie, his wife, partner, and friend of 38 years, will forever love and miss him.
Clifford’s children, Clifford Ian, Sheri Lou, Anne Marie, Shelly Marie, and Clifton Chad, will always love, cherish, and miss him.
Clifford’s special sons are Mike, Lawrence, Charlie, and Robert Bobby; and his special daughters are Gina, Candace, and Annette. He had an abundance of love for his family, friends, and loved ones.
Together, Clifford and his wife, Rose, shared nine grandchildren, Jaden, Courtney, Breanna, Alyssa, Nika, Madeline, Vincent, Jack, and Chad. They also were blessed with two great-grandchildren, Alicia and Kaleb.
Clifford loved them all dearly and always will share a special bond with them.
Clifford also will be missed by his brothers, Gary, Jazz, and Noel and their partners, Stella, Amy, and Darlene; and his sisters, Patsy, Brenda, Bernadine, Audrey, and Rhonda and their partners, Otto, Wayne, and Jorge. They will miss him dearly.
Other family members who remember and miss Clifford include his step-siblings, Marie, Agnes, Elizabeth, Stanley, and Albert. His many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends share the treasured memories of their uncle, cousin and friend.
Clifford was predeceased by his father, Pierre Tuesday Sr.; his mother, Hannah Comegan; brothers, Carl and Larry; sisters, Sharon, Star, and Debbie; step-brother Ron; and Albert John Morrison, who was his brother, best friend, and cousin.
