Jacqueline “Jackie” Carolyn (Garland) Gustafson passed away peacefully at her home on Rainy Lake with her loving husband, Raymond Ernest-Clifford, by her side on Friday, April 8, 2011.
Jackie was born Aug. 26, 1934 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Cecil and Rita Garland.
Jackie graduated from Fort Frances High School, then went on to graduate from McKellar General Hospital in 1955. While studying in Thunder Bay, the many friendships she made continued throughout her life.
She returned to Fort Frances and was a compassionate Registered Nurse on the children’s floor at La Verendrye Hospital.
On Oct. 18, 1955, Jackie married the love of her life, Raymond. They had four wonderful children and eventually moved from Fort Frances to their cabin on Rainy Lake, where they established roots and enjoyed summer days on the dock and cozy winters by the fire.
Jackie and Raymond went on to raise their four children and later many grandchildren at their nest on the lake.
Jackie is survived by her loving husband, Raymond “Hug-a-Bug” Gustafson; her sister, Marilynne and husband, Vic Laxdal; and her children, Greg Gustafson (wife, Shelly), Cynde (husband, Robin Gagne), Mark Gustafson (wife, Laura) and Heather Gustafson.
“Gramma Bear” also is survived by her grandchildren, Nici McLean, Celeste Woodside, Jillian Kaun, Sami Gustafson, Summer Struve, Bryan Gustafson, Paul Gagne, Dakota Gustafson, Danielle Gustafson, and Tamara Gustafson.
Not only was she a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, but a loving mother to many four-legged family members, as well.
A celebration of her life was held at her eldest son’s home on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 amongst family and friends, just as Jackie wanted.
