It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allan Charles Singleton, 72, of Fort Frances, Ont., on Friday, March 4, 2011 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Allan was born Oct. 16, 1938 in Sioux Lookout, Ont. to the late Dan and Ida Singleton.
He had worked as a rock driller for many years, and also was a guide and trapper. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He also loved playing the guitar, fixing snowmobiles and lawnmowers. Most of all, though, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Allan is survived by his son, Allen and his daughters, Jada and Keira, and their mother, Tammy Bruyere.
Also left to cherish his memory is his brother, Roy Singleton and family of Dryden, Ont.; sister, Daisy Miller and family of Indianapolis, Ind.; and five step-children, Jan Bruyere and Cathy (Robert) Perreault, all of Couchiching First Nation, Darrell (Cindy) Klyne of International Falls, Mn., Brad (Bonnie) Klyne of Surrey, B.C., and Tracy Linden of Atikokan.
Also surviving are numerous step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Carol Ann Singleton; his second wife, Elaine (Mainville) Singleton; his parents, Dan and Ida Singleton; and siblings, Fred, Lester, Norman, and Jane.
A gathering to celebrate Allan’s life will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 from 10 a.m. until noon at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
The honourary pallbearers will be all of Allan’s family and friends.
