ZITA MILLER

With her family by her side, Zita Miller passed away peacefully at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. on Friday, April 30, 2010 at the age of 75.
Zita was born in Sheenboro, Que. on Oct. 23, 1934 to Ernest and Margaret Chartrand.
She resided in Pembroke, Streetsville, and Brampton before finally settling and making her home in Fort Frances in 1971.
She served for the Canadian armed services (RCAF) for almost seven years, including a tour in Baden–Soellingen, Germany, where she met and married her own sweetheart, Joesph Miller, prior to returning to Canada.
Zita loved being outdoors in her garden and picking berries, which she crafted into canned goods and homemade jelly and jams which were shared with all.
When contained inside, she put her culinary skills to work baking cookies and buns loved by all who visited.
Family was everything to Zita; she embraced and cherished every moment as a gift. As important to her was sharing an open heart to anyone who entered her home–they, too, became part of the family and were adorned with the same affection and care.
Zita was an extraordinary person who touched and impacted the lives of all those who met and knew her. Her compassion for life was only matched by her relentless drive for improved social services for which she volunteered a great deal of her time.
She will be sorely missed, but her memories will live through the love, tenderness, and kindness she demonstrated in her actions and her words experienced by all.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Joseph of Fort Frances, Ont.; five children, Kathy Miller of Fort Frances, Ont., Debbie and Dale Lindsell of Thunder Bay, Ont., William and Kelly Miller of Ann Arbor, Mich., Kim Miller of Fort Frances, Ont., and Diana and Gary Angus, also of Fort Frances, Ont.
She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Patricia and Joe; step-grandchildren, Lesley and Coral (Debbie), Derek and Lauren (Willy), Sabrina (Kim), and Shandy and Karlee (Diana); and great-grandchildren, Nolan (Patricia), Hailey (Joe), Kerrin and Drake (Lesley), and Johnny, Jesslyn, and Jadyn (Coral).
Also surviving are five sisters, Shirley and husband, Rudy, of Mississippi, Dawn of Manitoba, Theresa and husband, Donald, of Pembroke, Ont., Anne of Georgia, and Margaret and husband, Fernand, of Manitoba; and one brother, Rolland, of Georgia.
Zita was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Margaret; and brothers, Arthur and Robert.
A social gathering to celebrate Zita’s life will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 1-3 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort Frances.
