ELIZABETH JEAN BARSY

Elizabeth Jean Barsy (nee O’Leary), 86, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. with family by her side.
Jean was born June 18, 1923 in Fort Frances to the late William and Elizabeth O’Leary, the youngest of six children.
Jean was a loving caregiver over the years, always there to help out family members in their time of need, often relocating to do so.
She lived independently in her apartment at Rose Manor until her recent stay in the hospital.
Jean enjoyed reading novels and the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. She looked forward to visits from her family, especially on St. Patrick’s Day.
She also was an avid hockey fan, not missing an NHL game. She faithfully cheered on her team and Sidney Crosby.
Jean was predeceased by her first husband, Howard Wagner; her second husband, Joseph Barsy; infant sister, Rose; sister, Jessie (Armand) Bernier; brothers, Bill O’Leary, Neil (Mabel) O’Leary, and Frank (Rose) O’Leary; and good friend, Vera “Rocky” Woods.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Beatrice O’Leary; numerous nieces and nephews; special nieces, Barbara (Bill) Perry of Kitchener, Ont., Bonnie (Rob) Leullier of Headingly, Man., and Neila (Ian) Booth of Devlin, Ont.; and nephew, Bill O’Leary of Fort Frances, Ont.
Cremation has taken place, and a private interment will be held at a later date.
