The Wayman and Linklater family is greatly saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Emily Anne Marie Wayman (Linklater) of Couchiching First Nation.
Emily was called home on Monday, April 5, 2010 at the young age of 23.
Emily was predeceased by her grandfather, Alphonse Linklater; uncle, Joey Linklater; older sister, Sasheen Linklater; niece, Summer Jean Linklater; and grandfather, Buddy Wayman.
Emily’s grandmother, Mariah Linklater, raised us all to love one another, to be very close, and to be very supportive of our family.
Emily sadly leaves behind her grandmother, Mariah Linklater; mother, Freda Perry; step-father, Robert Perry; older brothers, Walter Linklater (Pauline), Adam Linklater (Michelle), and Alphonse Wayman (Audria); younger brothers, Dale Tolgoni, Scott Tolgoni, and little Robert Perry; and step-sisters, Justina Burdick of Milwaukee Wis. and Savanah Wayman of Lac Du Flambeau Wis.
Emily Anne Marie also leaves behind her auntie, Jacqueline Linklater (Calvin); and her very close cousins whom she always referred to as her brothers and sisters: Larry Linklater (Helen), Tabetha Linklater (Charlie), Falcon Cameron (Waylon), Wynter Tom (Conrad), Patrishah Linklater-Tom (Winston), Feather Friday, Espirit Friday, and Lantana Friday.
Emily had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved and honoured that are too many to mention.
Emily grew up in Minnesota and the Wisconsin area, and is described as wanting to see and do everything as she didn’t like to stay in one place too long.
Emily is loved, cherished, and honoured by the many hearts she has touched; she was a beautiful daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, an auntie, a niece, a cousin, and a true friend.
Emily was very lovable, brave, beautiful, funny, smart, and an outgoing native woman; a flower waiting to bloom. She always has thought fondly of her loved ones as she admired and cherished each moment she shared with everyone.
She always loved with her heart and soul.
Emily had a mesmerizing voice that could light up any situation, any smile, any heart and soul—a gift that will be truly missed and honoured within our hearts. She had an excellent memory as Emily always could describe her childhood in great detail to her loved ones.
Emily also enjoyed and loved family gatherings, especially laughing and joking with everyone. Emily loved to share valuable memories she had of everybody, a time she knew and felt brought everyone’s hearts closer.
She also honoured and respected her traditional teachings that were passed down and taught by her family. She loved attending pow-wows and traditional ceremonies.
Emily Anne Marie Wayman will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but never forgotten as she’ll remain forever in our hearts.
A wake will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Couchiching First Nation gymnasium.
